When the amateur film contest was announced by a local television station, I knew it was something I had to do. As someone who has always wanted to create a "movie", this was going to be a lot of fun. I sat down with a bunch of friends and began working out a plan for an entry for the contest. I had just bought an HD camcorder that would work fine for the filming, but were a little worried about putting together a final edition.

I started messing around with my notebook computer and saw that it is already preloaded with some movie editing software. After spending some time working with some test shots we did with the HD camcorder, I began to get a pretty good handle of using the software on the notebook computer. For two weeks we met filming our little "movie" and I spent time putting it together into a pretty good film. The day of the contest
came and we entered our homemade movie into the contest and won second place. Second place price; an HD camcorder. Guess we have to find another camera person for next year's contest.
