Fans of my band have been asking for footage of my band playing live for their own home entertainment. At first, we had sponsors come out to our performances and record us with their camcorders, loading the video into their notebook computers -- notebook computers are so handy aren't they. With the bad lighting, and people moving around all the time, the videos didn't come out so great. The visuals were hard to see at times, and the audio was inaudible. After several shows like this, a sponsor of ours decided they would bring their HD camcorder. We were a bit distraught over the previous failures, but we decided to give it another shot. He came to the show with his HD camcorder – which to an untrained eye, such as mine, looked like any other camcorder. He filmed us backstage doing our warm-ups and goofing around – which was cool. Then came show time, the big test for the HD camcorder. We had an amazing performance with great response from the crowd. After the show, when we critiqued what the HD camcorder could do, we were stunned to say the least. Not only did the HD camcorder have great picture – we are talking crystal clear –, but you could hear the audio well too. All of our performances are recorded using an HD camcorder now.
